Repairs
The extent of repairs can only be established, following the results of investigation. Experience however shows that banded tanks need much more extensive remedial works than the un-banded tanks.
In any event, where the wires have corroded, these will need to be replaced. The current practice is to replace the wires using 16mm diameter polypropylene sheathed high tensile pre-stressing tendons. Sequence of works is very critical, and excessive or incorrect levels of stressing could cause the relatively thin wall shells to crack.
